Southampton is the largest city in the county of Hampshire on the south coast of England, and is situated 62 miles south-west of London and 19 miles north-west of Portsmouth. Southampton is a major port and the closest city to the New Forest. It lies at the northernmost point of Southampton Water at the confluence of the River Test and River Itchen, with the River Hamble joining to the south of the urban area. The local authority is Southampton City Council, which is a unitary authority.
The city itself has an estimated population of 234,600 (MYE 2008).The city's name is sometimes abbreviated in writing to "So'ton" or "Soton", and a resident of Southampton is called a Sotonian. Southampton is noted for its association with the RMS Titanic, the Spitfire and the greatest football team in the world.

andyph It seems so :( Just spoke to some people up north, alot of snow on the ground and it's still going! Aslong as they let us know our game is cancelled before we set off at 7am!
andyph It's official, the game is off :( Will probably end up being a tuesday evening in January now, 6 hour coach trip after a game on a tuesday night.... hmmm... may need to reconsider this one!

andyph I will keep dreaming, although the way they are playing at the minute it looks like League 1 is going to be their home for a while!
Harris if they produce more players like Gareth Bale and can keep hold of them i'm sure they will be in with a chance!!!
andyph We have a player at the minute, 17 year old called Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin who reminds me exactly of Walcott or Bale, it's worth checking out his goal and his powering attack last week http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/9122562.stm, we need to hold on to these players, same can be said for Adam Llalana.

LadyZub SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT UPDATE:
Following advice from the Met Office, the national air traffic service (NATS) has introduced restrictions to UK airspace this morning as a result of volcanic ash drifting across the United Kingdom from Iceland. Flights at Southampton Airport are affected, particularly to and from destinations north of Southampton.
Passengers intending to fly today are asked to contact their airline for further information and should expect disruption in the coming hours. Updates will be issued throughout the morning.

Will Hi @Nathan, can you recommend any good nightclubs in !Southampton? I've been to a few good ones in !Bournemouth, and was hoping to try somewhere a little further east.
