Welcome to Electric
As the owner of Electric...
I dedicate this Zub to all things electronic, as I thought it would be good have a Zub featuring the latest gadgets and technology, as well as some of the classic gadgets of the past.
I would like to know what peoples favorite piece of technology is, be it an MP3 player, mobile phone, laptop camera, or anything other gadget you could now not live without.
I've included some of the classic gadgets in the photo's section as well as some newer things,
Click on the photo's for more info on various gadgets from tha past and present!

Matty I might have thrown this down here already somewhere, but my mate got an iPad for her birthday. Even though I am yet to work out why they are necessary with iPhones and other ebook readers, I still really want one. Has anyone actually got much use out of one, they are pretty slick.

LadyZub In 1997, on this very day, Microsoft announced that it would invest $150 million in a small, relatively unknown eletronics business by the name of Apple Computer Inc. Heard of them? I wonder if Microsoft have since rued this decision :) xx

mathmoss @ladyzub, to be honest i think microsoft are kicking themselfs in discust for the poor mistake they made by investing, with the very bad pr for the iphone 4 and the behind the tech curve apple have adopted with there devices, if i was microsoft ill be kicking apples door down asking for a refund.

Matty I have watched the video, and it is a cool idea, but I don't know how I would get the best use out of it. My subtlety wouldn't allow me to use is as well without shoving it in someone's face.

MikeH It looks like the iPad is being used for a lot more than video playback and displaying books, British soldiers are using iPads to help with training: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/10813964 I think this is a good idea myself and could make things quicker and easier.

Joe Looks cool, but surely it's just a quiz on an iPad, you could just do this on screens before...lol iPads will dominate the student market when Universities start to realise it will be cheaper to buy an iPad with textbooks on them and give them to students rather than fork out for a load of text books, saves the planet also :)

Will @Joe I think it's more than just a quiz on an iPad, as they also plan to have a 3D app aimed at army pilots. I guess it will also save a lot of photocopying also!

Joe Yeah, I think an app that will sell loads would be a photoshop app, it's like a wacom tablet already, deffo needs to be done!

Will @Joe check out this video, it's not quite Photoshop but pretty cool nonetheless! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ofJCWEbf-c

mathmoss what councel would fork out £600 plus for a ipad for every student whan there are plenty of cheaper devices that do a lot more, yes i agree that its the future in learning and i can see devices like these pop up in the work place too, the ipad in the betamax of the tablet war. as for the ipad, there are many more uses for it other being a overpriced, low tech, brick. you can prop doors open with it, use it as a food server, you can scrape ice off a car with it or use it as a surf board lol.

Will Has anyone ever accidentally smashed a TV with a wii-mote? If so it looks like some manufacturers will be offering TV's with tough glass which should be able to withstand some abuse! http://gizmodo.com/5602085/gorilla-glass-to-protect-tvs-from-wiimotes-next-year

Will It is better now that they have the jackets, I do know someone who smashed a load of china from a windowsill because of a flying wii-mote!

Joe Ha ha brilliant, they always came with the wrist strap, but NO-ONE used it! :P
one year ago
Will I know what you mean, there are even warnings in the games saying to use the wrist strap. It's even worse after a few drinks. nothing in the house is safe from wii-mote destruction!

Joe Ha ha, I used to have a wii, I didn't use the strap, I probably used it while drunk, in fact I'm pretty certain, but I never broke it! :P

Will Well I'm no better, I once sent the controller flying around a friends house, luckily it only hit the wall and nothing was broken!

Will That's very clever if it works, but also a little scary, as someone somewhere will be able to track where you are!

MikeH Here's quite a nice little camera which has a built in printer which is great for people who prefer seeing printed photo's compared to seeing them on a screen: http://www.reghardware.com/2010/07/30/review_camera_instant_print_polaroid_300/

Steph Was anyone aware that apple teamed up with Frank Lampard to make gold plated ipods before the world cup. Apparently they haven't sold very well after the england performance so the remain 5,000 ipods are being melted down and the gold reused to make limited edition hello kitty ones. They were on sale in Harrods for £599. xx

Joe Nawwh Hello Kitty iPods...I believe the company selling them is Gold Genie, the same place I want to get my Xbox Gold Plated from! http://www.goldgenie.com/

Will It seems like you can get anything gold plated these days! I'm not sure if I'd get a gold plated iPod myself, I think I prefer the look of the normal silver ones.
