Welcome to Grand Junction
As the owner of Grand Junction...
I think Grand Junction is one of the best places to live in the US. It's small town living with big city convenience.
With a population of around 54,000 (146,000 including surrounding areas) the City of Grand Junction is the largest city in western Colorado and the 15th most populace city in the state. It is situated 247 miles west-southwest of the State Capital in Denver and along the Colorado River where it meets the Gunnison River. The name "Grand" refers to the historical upper Colorado River until renamed in 1921, and the word "Junction" is from the joining of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers. Hence, Grand Junction has been given the nickname "River City". The city sits near the mid-point of a 30-mile (48 km) arcing valley, known as the Grand Valley, a major fruit-growing region. We have many wineries in the area and fruit festivals each year.
The Colorado National Monument, a unique series of canyons and mesas, overlooks the city on the west, and the Book Cliffs are a prominent series of cliffs that define the northern side of the Grand Valley. Mesa County has turned into a major mountain biking destination, with many bikers coming from the Front Range of Colorado, the Salt Lake City area, and even as far away as California to enjoy the Grand Junction area's abundant single-track trails. Two prominent trails among others are the Tabeguache and Kokopelli trails, the latter running from near Loma, Colorado, all the way to Moab, Utah.

Paul I read that !GrandJunction City Council members have yet to vote on the future of medical-marijuana dispensaries within city limits (pot shops!). They voted earlier this month not to let voters decide the fate of dispensaries.

Macady I just realized that I haven't driven on a freeway in almost a year! That's one of the benefits of living here in Junction is that I don't have to spend hours just trying to get somewhere.

Macady Yes the city put on a great fireworks show at the park which we watched from the balcony at Danielle's house. Then we set off our own fireworks in her driveway. Will post pics sometime today. The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays because it's a great time to spend with family BBQing and the kids always have fun with the fireworks.
